Over the 3-day weekend, I had the privilege of being in the annual Labor Day Parade on Wabash Avenue to promote Myers for VCSC Board. There was a great deal of work to be done, but overall the six individuals (including myself) who were there had a great time! Blowing up balloons to pass out to the kids was a challenge (tip #1 make sure the helium tank works and tip #2 make sure the balloons don't get tangled), but the kids LOVED them. I give credit for this idea to my team who thought balloons would a) make a lasting impression, and b) be healthier than candy.
The walk itself wasn't bad, but it was hot. I am hoping the October 1st ISU Homecoming Parade will give us some cooler temperatures. One thing I need to remember is to bring water for everyone to drink, especially me. Dehydration is not fun!
I think the best part of the day was meeting new people and seeing the kids so excited! I hope to have an even bigger turnout on October 1st!
