It's been awhile since I've blogged, but not due to the fact that I've been lazy. Far from it, I've been incredibly busy walking my neighborhood to get support, answering questionnaires for web and print election guides, preparing for debates, and attending community events.
At one of the recent events at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, one of the incumbents asked me if this campaign was more difficult than I thought it would be. I said no, I expected this to be tough. It was an exhilarating feeling when I got up to the podium and read my talking points to the group of nuns in attendance. In fact, another candidate that went up after me had similar points, which made us both look like we were in synch.
I think the most difficult part of this so far is answering the questionnaires. Some of the questions have been very specific...example being "Do you currently support the job performance of the Superintendent of Schools in Vigo County?" It's difficult to answer these questions honestly but without boxing yourself in a corner. I always have at least one person read over anything that I type and send out or speak on (except this blog, of course).
I know the next 27 days are going to go by very quickly. As I was driving to work this morning, I heard "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten and it reminded me of why I started this path and how I'm going to finish and finish strong with my family, friends, and supporters at my side!
