Well, it didn't turn out the way I wanted to, but I am still grateful for the experience. I appreciate all of the support that everyone across Vigo County has given me since I announced my candidacy and even before then when I was just another concerned parent.
Yes, I am sad, upset, and disheartened that I didn't win, but the fact that out of nine candidates I came in third and only missed second place by 605 votes says a lot. I will most definitely run again, whether it's in two years or four--I need to think about when I want to finish my degree.
The most important thing to do now is to make sure that the three incumbents that were re-elected by our community live up to their promise of more transparency, better accountability, and to get to the bottom of this FBI investigation. I still plan to attend school board meetings, just not every single one. I still plan to be vocal about my concerns with education and children's experiences with the corporation. I still plan to be me. This is NOT the end...it is only the beginning.
